Keratoconus. What it is, in plain terms.

In keratoconus the cornea gradually thins, and instead of an even dome it pushes forward into a cone shape.
A cone does not blur evenly, so glasses stop being able to fix it. Prescriptions change often and never quite work.
It usually begins in the teens or twenties and tends to progress over years. Rubbing your eyes makes it worse, which is why we ask you to stop.
There are answers to both halves of this. Cross-linking can stop it getting worse, and specialty lenses can restore clear vision.
